Profhilo works by injecting Hyaluronic Acid under the skin. Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of Hyaluronic Acid on the market (64mg/2ml), to give the optimal, desired effect.
Hyaluronic Acid is naturally occurring in the skin. It can hold up to 1000 times of it’s own weight in water to boost hydration. With age Hyaluronic Acid production naturally slows down which causes dull, dehydrated skin which can lead to signs of ageing.
Injecting Profhilo directly under the skin gives some immediate effects such as plumping and hydrating. The full effect takes 2-4 weeks to see. In this time the Hyaluronic Acid stimulates Collagen and Elastin which helps to remodel ageing and sagging skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
At Aesthetics by Dr Katherine, York Profhilo is injected under the skin, in targeted anatomical places. This ensures the treatment has maximum effect giving you the desired appearance. Profhilo can be injected into the face or neck to boost, hydrate and tighten.
The treatment is given in 2 doses 4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatment is then given as one dose every three months or a full course every six months. This can be given alongside other treatments, such as anti-wrinkle treatment, but also works exceptionally when given alone.

A. Profhilo is a skin booster. This is a product, in this case Hayluronic Acid, that is injected under the skin to boost, hydrate and remodel the skin. This works to reduced signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles.
A. Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of Hyaluronic Acid on the market. Hyaluronic Acid can hold 1000 times it’s own weight in water to boost the skin’s hydration. With age Hyaluronic Acid production naturally slows down to cause dull, dehydrated skin.
When treated with Profhilo the skin is boosted and hydrated. Over time the Profhilo causes the skin to regenerate by stimulating Collagen and Elastin production to tighten the skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
A. As always at Aesthetics by Dr Katherine, York on arrival we will discuss your treatment goals and desired outcomes to formulate a treatment plan. You will need to complete medical and consent forms, if not already done. Please note Profhilo is effective, but is limited, and so may not be suitable for all patients.
Once the forms are completed and we have a treatment plan in place photos will be taken. These are mandatory photos taken pre-treatment and will be stored confidentially with your medical records.
After applying numbing/local anaesthetic cream your face will be cleaned and injection sites marked out before commencing the Profhilo treatment.
A. Yes! Profhilo can be given at the same time as other treatments including anti-wrinkle treatments and Derma Fillers.
It is advised to wait 2 weeks before having Chemical Peels, Microneedling or Dermaplaning.
A. The face and neck can be injected to improve sagging/loose skin and reduce signs of ageing.
A. As with any injection it is common to get some redness, tenderness small lumps to the skin. This tends to last a few hours only.
There is a risk of infection, however this is prevented as much as possible by thoroughly cleaning the skin and it is advised not to touch your skin, wear make-up or apply products for the first 24 hours.
As Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance the risk of allergy/anaphylaxis is very low.
A. You cannot have Profhilo if you have any of the following:
A. As your skin has been injected it is very normal to have some small red lumps at the injection sites. These should settle in approx. 1 hour. Bruising may occur, but this tends to be minimal and easily covered.
At Aesthetics by Dr Katherine, York it is advised not to consume alcohol, wear make up, exercise or use hot environments such as showers or gyms for 24 hours after your treatment. Plus no sunbeds or saunas for 48 hours. This is to reduce risk of infection and bruising.
The treatment takes at least two weeks to see the effects.
Two treatments are required 4 weeks apart, and maintenance treatments are advised at 3 month intervals.
